Myrel Harriet Anderson was born on August 15, 1911 at the family home in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Ebert and Emma (Lindblad) Johnson. She graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School in 1929 and then from Bethel Academy in St. Paul with a Christian Workers degree in 1931.

On October 1, 1932 she married Rev. Frank Lowell Anderson who graduated from Bethel Seminary in 1933. This union was blessed with four children. Together they served in many churches over the yeas in Dalesburg and Alcester, South Dakota; Elim Baptist, Seattle, Washington; and Bethany Baptist of Mason and Ogema Baptist churches in Wisconsin. They came to Stanchfield Baptist church in 1972, where they served for ten years and then retired. She loved serving the Lord and meeting and keeping so many cherished friends over the years. She lived out her last years at Elmhurst Commons in Braham where she treasured a loving and caring extended family of staff and friends.

Myrel loved music and was an accomplished pianist and organist. There was always music in our home. She was also a wonderful cook and gracious hostess…entertaining hundreds over the years as a pastors wife. She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and was a real prayer warrior! Our family will cherish the memory of our mother and grandmother lifting up each one of us by name every night in prayer. She would say that the greatest life on earth is one lived for the Lord. It’s the most rewarding and has the most heavenly retirement plan!!

Myrel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lowell; and brothers and sisters, Clarence, Roy, Eleanor, Mildred, George, Clifford and Irene.

She is survived by her children: Gerald Anderson of Grand Marais, MN, Dennis (Mary) Anderson of Broken Arrow, OK, Patricia (Ed) Anthony of Excelsior, MN and Richard (Pam) Anderson of Vadnais Heights, MN; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

I have many fond memories of Grandma. Many around Thanksgiving and Christmas time. Perhaps, my greatest memories are her thoughtful letters and prayer. I will miss them.
