Elva Hulda Fleischer was the first of twin girls born to Carl and Hulda (Zimple) Ziesmer on December 17, 1916. Her mother died during childbirth, so Elva and her twin sister, Minetta were baptized by Rev. B.J. Becker on the day of their birth. Elva grew up on the family farm and attended country school. Her father re-married and two more children were born into the family. Later, the young family moved from McGrath to the Arlington/Green Isle area of MN. Elva was confirmed on April 13, 1939 by Rev. John Bush at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Arlington Township at Arlington, MN.

Elva met and married her first husband, Alfred Mueller, on November 3, 1937. To this union 8 children were born – the youngest 3 being triplets! Alfred and Elva moved from Hamburg to Arlington to raise their family. In June 1961, Elva lost her beloved Alfred to a heart attack. Elva raised her children by herself for 13 years. During those years, Elva worked at the canning factory in Arlington during the “corn run” and she also worked at the Bakery in Arlington. Elva married Herman Fleischer in 1974 and moved to Glencoe, MN. Herman passed away on May 21, 1998, leaving Elva a widow again. In October 2005 Elva moved to Bruno, MN to live with her daughter Rosa-Lee. While living with Rosa-Lee, it was her job to let the cats in and out of the house. She especially enjoyed watching all the different wildlife that came to their back yard in Bruno. She loved to crochet and always enjoyed adding to her collection of Trolls and ceramic pigs – mostly gifts from her family. She especially enjoyed attending her church; St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bruno.

Elva was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands Alfred and Herman, her sisters Minetta and Loraine, her brother Charles and 2 grandsons Steven and Josh. She is survived by her sons Harold (Martha) Mueller of Mora, MN, Gary (Norma) Mueller of Buffalo, MN, and daughters Rosa-Lee Riebe of Bruno, MN, Nyssa Firewalker of Redfield, SD, Lee Templin of Glencoe, MN, Jane Stillings of Brownton, MN, Janice Molitor of Glencoe, MN, and Joan (Bruce) Butler of Waconia, MN.
