FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, August 17th at Zion Lutheran Church in Mora. VISITATION will be from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 16th at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home, plus 1 hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. INTERMENT will be at Graceland Cemetery in Ogilvie.

Elaine Lois Schultz, of Mora, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at the Cambridge Medical Center. She was 79 years old.

Elaine was born on November 9, 1929 to parents Palmer and Esther (Pless) Hogstad in Franklin, Minnesota. At the age of the eight, Elaine and her family moved to Brainerd were she attended school until the family moved again to Isle, MN.

In 1948 Elaine met William Schultz while working at the Hall Pharmacy in Mora. They were united in marriage on June 3, 1950 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Ogilvie. Together they settled in Mora and raised their five children. Elaine became a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Mora in 1953. She spent many years serving on the ladies aid and collecting for missions.
After her children finished school, Elaine went to work for the Kanabec Hospital as a housekeeper until she retired in 1991. After their retirement Elaine and Bill would travel to Florida to spend their winters where they made many wonderful friends. Due to declining health, Elaine moved to the Grandview Care Center in Cambridge in 2004 where she became a special friend to many of the nurses, aids, and residents.
Elaine had many loves in her life, cooking, baking, tending to her gardens, playing bingo, bird watching, and taking care of her schnauzer dogs.
But Elaine’s greatest love was her family; her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, and son Mark.

She is survived by her husband Bill; daughter Carolyn (John) Mattson; sons Bob (Lynn) Schultz, James Schultz, and Jerry (Connie) Schultz all of Mora; brothers Gary (Lavonne) Hogstad of Blaine, and Roger Hogstad of Mora; grandchildren Angela (Jason) Mann, Jeffrey (Stacie) Mattson, Amy (Shawn) Mattson, Jessica, Ben, Daniel, Justin, Beth, and Kyle Schultz; great grandchildren Kate, Emilie, Brandon, Aydan, and Carson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held on Monday, August 17, 2009 at the Zion Lutheran Church of Mora with Rev. Greggory Coop presiding. Music was provided by Karen Kirschner, Casket Bearers were Justin Schultz, Kyle Schultz, Jeff Mattson, Tom Heuer, Charles Norman, and Dan Schultz. Interment was in the Graceland Cemetery in Ogilvie.
