Howard Sizer of Mora, formerly of Grasston, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at his home in Rural Mora. He was 89 years old.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 14, 2009 at the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham with Beverly Robinson presiding. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service. INTERMENT will be in the Grasston Union Cemetery.
Howard Gerald Sizer, of Mora and rural Grasston, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 in Mora, MN. He was 89 years old.
Howard was born on March 15, 1920 in Pokegama Township, Pine County to parents Frank and Grace (Justice) Sizer. Howard grew up on the family farm and attended Grasston School. On December 12, 1942 Howard was united in marriage to Doris Loretta Evenson in Pine City. Together they moved to the farm east of Grasston in 1949 where Howard raised dairy cattle and farmed. Howard also managed the Grasston Feed Co-Op, the Braham Feed Co-Op, and drove gas truck for Northwest LP Gas. In 2002 due to declining health, Howard and Doris moved to Mora and then to Braham for a short time, before moving in with long time friends Jane and Dan Ziebarth’s homecare residence.
Howard loved the outdoors. He loved fishing and in his later years enjoyed making fishing lures. Howard also enjoyed deer hunting. He will be missed by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris, brothers Clarence Sizer and Donald Sizer, sister Sidora Haavisto.
He is survived by sons Steve (Nancy) Sizer of St. Peter and Gerald (Dianne) Sizer of Bemidji; daughter Karen Stromberg of Mora; sister Vivian Ostrom of Braham; Eight grandchildren Kristine (Eric) Christus, Jeffrey (Amy), Katie, Dana (Damon) Drauden, David, Marc, Eric, and Calli; Four great grandchildren Madeline, Samuel, Jackson, and Grace; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
