A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Rich Chronis presiding. VISITATION will be from 4-7 pm on Friday, July 17th at the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham and 1 hour prior to the service at the church. INTERMENT will be in the Rice Lake Cemetery of Braham.

Lillie Victoria Hallin was born on April 27, 1908, the eighth of nine children born to Nils and Beda (Anderson) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed at Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church. Lillie attended Braham school through the ninth grade.

After completing school she worked as a housekeeper and helped on the farm. Lillie married Harry Hallin of Braham on July 3, 1937 at Braham Lutheran parsonage. They moved into the new home built before their marriage and she lived there until January 2, 2009 when she moved to Grace Pointe Crossing West, where she passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the age of 101 years old.

During the time she was busy raising her family she was also helping Harry’s folks Albert and Albertina Hallin who lived next door, as well as her own mother, sister and brother who still lived on the family farm. Lillie’s home became the gathering place for her many relatives and friends that often came back to Braham to visit. They knew they would find the coffee pot on and treats to go with it. Her family will always remember the many times we had glorified rice, potato salad and of course egg nog at Christmas.

She was active in the Braham Lutheran church Ladies Aid and the Braham American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. She worked for Pete Gustafson at the Park Caf where she said she learned to make good gravy. She also worked for several years at Schwarten Drug store and later for Shockman Drug. She retired at age 62, in 1970.

She is survived by son Ronald and wife Maxine Hallin of Grasston, daughter Beverly and husband James Carlson of Braham; grandchildren Robin and husband Steve Blouin of Hudson Wisconsin, Brian and wife Theresa Carlson of Braham, Julie and husband Wayne Brown of Cambridge, Joni and husband Jay Mankie of Braham; great-grandchildren Danae and Kristin Carlson, Emily and Daniel Brown, Jorgen, Joshua, Jenna and John Mankie; many nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harry; parents Nils and Beda Olson; brothers Norman Olson, Walter Olson and Stanley Olson; sisters Karolina Olson, Ellen Dupre, Nannie Drew, Blenda Hilmer and Ethel Olson; sisters-in-law, brothers-in law and many cousins.

A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Rich Chronis presiding. Music was provided by Ruth Grundyson. Casket bearers were Robert Olson, Dennis Olson, Duane Olson, Richard Olson, Thomas Olson, and John Backe. Interment was in the Rice Lake Cemetery of Braham. Arrangements were with the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham.
