Monte Richard Hinde was born at home on November 29, 1922 in Whited Township, Kanabec County, Minnesota to Richard and Lydia (Hansen) Hinde. He grew up on the family farm, the oldest of two children. He attended Quamba School until the age of 14 and graduated from Mora High School in 1940. After high school he enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He married Eunice Sandell on July 29, 1944 at the Mora Methodist Parsonage. To this union one daughter, Barbara, was born. The couple spent their entire married life on the now century farm (Linden Grange).
Monte was a school bus driver for Quamba and Mora totaling 41 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Mora. He was a hard working farmer, and a mentor to everyone he touched. His favorite hobby was bowling. He loved the “hunting shack” and his hunting buddies of 50 years. He loved dancing and vacationing in their motor home. The woods were a haven for him and he thoroughly enjoyed harvesting firewood. The farm is an example of his meticulous ways.
