DALE GRINER

d-griner-web.jpgDale Griner, of rural Mora, died on Wednesday, July 8th, 2009 at his home. He was 64 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 11th at Hillman Baptist Church in rural Mora. VISITATION will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Friday, July 10th at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora, plus 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. INTERMENT will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.

Dale Ernest Griner born November 1, 1944 in Hampton Iowa to Ernest and Miriam Davisson-Griner. He grew up on the family farm enjoying all the activities including caring for the animals and farming the land. He graduated from Dumont High School in 1963. During his senior year he was a member of the first football team at the high school. After graduation he started farming and also doing custom farm work.
On April 20, 1968 he was united in marriage to Maureen Struthoff in Ackley, Iowa. They became parents of two daughters, Dalene and Danelle.
He served as a director on the Butler County Extension Council and also as a 4-H leader. In September, 1984, the family moved to Mora, Minnesota where he worked in various occupations and later purchased a farm where he continued his rural life. At this point he became a shepherd to a vast flock of sheep. He operated a sheep dairy for several years.
His favorite hobbies were entertaining his grandchildren, woodburning, leather work, and reading farm publications to increase his knowledge of the latest crop methods and ways to improve the sheep operation. He liked to promote the sheep industry. He always enjoyed telling a good story. He especially enjoyed family get togethers during the holidays and time spent on family fishing trips.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents.
He is survived by his parents, E.J. and Miriam Griner, Rush City, MN; Wife, Maureen; daughters, Dalene Anderson; son-in law Scott Anderson, Mora; daughter, Danelle Griner, St. Paul; grandchildren Rachel and Caleb Anderson, Mora; brother, Delbert (Fern) Griner, Dumont, Iowa; sisters, Shirley Klooster (James), Allison, Iowa; Kathleen Heard, Mora; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Hillman Baptist Church, Mora. Paster Mark Roelofs officiated. Pallbearers were Jim Evenson, Don Holmstrom, Dan Krone, Mike Anderson, Keith Dordal, and Mark Johnson.
Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
