c-waugh-webphoto.jpgCarrol Waugh, of Braham, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2009 at his home in Elmhurst Commons. He was 90 years old.

A Gathering of friends will be held from 10-11:30am on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham. A Graveside Service and Interment will be held at 2:00pm at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneaplis with Rev. Rich Chronis presiding.

Carrol M. Waugh, of Braham, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2009 at his home. He was 90 years old.

Carrol was born on October 17, 1918 in Barrett, Minnesota to parents Henry and Hilda (Haugen) Waugh. He was the eldest of four children. Carrol graduated in 1936 from Barrett High School. He went on to attend the University of Iowa for two years until his enlistment in the US Army in 1941. Carrol served his country overseas during WWII in Guadalcanal as a Medic. After his discharge from the service, he married Phyllis Jean Mattson on June 5, 1945 in Barrett, Minnesota. Together they settled in Braham in 1959 to raise their five children. Carrol moved to Elmhurst Commons in 1999 where he resided until his passing.
Carrol was a proud member of the Braham VFW and a member of the Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a hard worker and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Carrol is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Hilda Waugh, wife Phyllis, and brother Stanley Waugh.

He is survived by his daughters Pat (Greg) Tollefsrud of Brainerd, and Julie (Dave) Bundy of Eagle Lake; sons Ron (Nancy) of Andover, Jim of Grandy, and Tim of Des Moines, IA; sisters Norma Melbostad of Edina, and Gloria Keffer of Wyomissing, PA; sister-in-law Mary Lou (Harold) Peterson of Wayzata; grandchildren Tyler (Heidi) Tollefsrud of Brainerd, Drew Tollefsrud of Milwaukee, Ashley Waugh of Elk River, Kirsten Waugh of Andover, Jeremy Bundy of Denver, CO, and Jon Bundy of Eagle Lake, Mn; great grandchildren Corey, Riley, and Daniel Tollefsrud; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends

A gathering of friends was held on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham, followed by a graveside service and Interment held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis with Rev Rich Chronis presiding.     Tim, please accept my condolences to you and your extended family. Having experienced the loss of my father, I can relate to the significance of the event even though it is part of our natural cycle. Keep the spirits up, not only at times like this one, but always.
