d-dee-web.jpgDorothy L. Dee of Mora, died on Saturday, May 16, at the Villa Health Care Center in Mora. She was 82 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at 2:00 pm. on Wednesday, May 20, from Zion Lutheran Church in Mora with Rev. Greg Coop officiating.

VISITATION will be held from 6-8 pm. on Tuesday and 1 hr. prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Mora, MN

Dorothy Louise Dee was born February 13, 1927 in Bismarck North Dakota to Albert and Dorothy (Clark) Thomas. She grew up in Bismarck and attended school until the 9th grade. In 1946 the family moved to Northway Alaska. In 1948 Dorothy moved to Minneapolis with her sister Jean. She met John Dee and they married on December 4, 1949. To this union 5 children were born. Dorothy and John lived in Ogilvie the first few years of their marriage, moving to Brook Park in 1956 and residing there until John died in 1978. Dorothy was a homemaker, working as a nurse’s aide for many years, she worked at the Mora Bakery and did Day Care. She enjoyed volunteering at the Nutrition Center and being active at the Pine Crest Apartments. Dorothy was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church being active with the Ladies Aid and the Choir. Dorothy cherished family and loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid bowler, loved to play cards and dance. She was always very helpful and willing to do whatever she could to help anyone at any time. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brothers Carl and Albert Thomas, her sisters Julia Dolder and Jean Ratto.
She is survived by her children; sons Bob Dee and David (Pam) Dee of Mora; daughters Mecheal (Dennis) Trupe of Mora, Alice Pingel of Janesville, WI, Darlene Backlund of Mora; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother William (Joyce) Thomas of Superior, WI; sisters Ann Marth of Anchorage, Alaska and Rita Zellweger of Fairbanks, Alaska, Rose Thomas of California; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 20th at Zion Lutheran Church in Mora. Rev. Greggory Coop officiated. Music was provided by Karen Kirschner and Mike Nelson. Pallbearers were Jon Backlund, Ryan Pingel, Heath Trupe, Sarah Dee, Rebecca Porath and Holly Turpe. Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.

  2. Hi, I was on vacation when Doroty (Dee Dee) passed away so I didn’t make it to her furneral. I will always miss her “how are you today Tina?” and her beautiful smile. She was always faithful every morning folding towels and singing along with the music in my office. I think she knew the words to every hymn that was played. And her bowling skills were surpassed by no one! She was such a asset to the Villa and I will miss her dearly. Sincerely, Tina Owens,Villa Health Care
