LILA M. HARPER

l-harper-web.gifLila Harper, formerly of Braham, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2009 at the St. Cloud Hospital. She was 81 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 18th at Rock-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Braham. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. INTERMENT will be at Royalton Memorial Cemetery in Royalton Township.

Lila Marilyn Harper of Sartell, formerly of Braham, passed away on April 13, 2009 at the St. Cloud Hospital. She was 81 years old.

Lila was born on October 29, 1927 in Royalton Township, Pine County to parents Sigurd and Mabel (Johnson) Westerlund. She grew up on the family farm, attended Braham High School and the University of Minnesota nursing program. She married James Edgar Harper on October 4, 1958. They both worked at the Cambridge State Hospital, she as a nurse and Jim as a barber, for many years. Lila also worked at Memorial Hospital in Cambridge. Over the years they lived in Grasston, Grandy, Cambridge, and in 1973 they purchased Lila’s home farm north of Braham. She enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables and sold produce and plants at the local farmer’s markets.

Lila is preceded in death by her husband James, her parents, brother Wilbur and three infant sisters.

She is survived by her children Peter (Lois) Harper of Stafford Springs, Connecticut, Susan Shafranski of Bloomington, Ronald (Cathy) Harper of Sartell and Donald Harper of Minneapolis; brother, Robert Westerlund of Brainerd, 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home in Braham with Rev. Jonathan Larson presiding. Casketbearers were Kevin Westerlund, Adam Westerlund, Justin Huls, Gary Swenson, Jesse Lindgren, and Ron Harper. Interment was in the Royalton Memorial Cemetery.
