Helen was born in Adel, Iowa, to Ira and Myrtle Swartz. Helen began playing piano in church at the age of 13 and taught in a one-room school house at the age of 14. She married Leslie Knee in 1941 and gave birth to six children over the next 18 years. After Leslie’s service in the military (WWII), they went on to open a Book and Bible store in Perry, Iowa; and then when Leslie was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel, Helen served as an active minister’s wife, teacher, speaker and sought-after Bible Study and Retreat Leader throughout the states os Wisconsin and Minnesota. She was a musician; in addition to the piano she played the organ and Vibra-harp.

After Leslie’s passing, Helen served as an activity director and cook in programs for the elderly and children in the twin cities area. She was blessed to be able to share nearly 20 years of marriage with Waldo David Lundgren in Blaine and Mora. They enjoyed their large family, their music and friends, and helping others whenever possible. She will be sorely missed by her beloved “Dave:.

Helen loved Jesus and found joy in these great hymns, “There’s Within My Heart a Melody”, “‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus” and “Be Not Dismayed What’er Be Tide.” Her greatest desire was that she will greet every member of her family in God’s Heaven.

Helen was preceded in death by her father, mother, sister Ethel, and brother Galen; as well as her husband Leslie, and grandson Wyatt Knee.
