Edward Eckhardt, of Ogilvie, died on Tuesday, Feb. 17th at his home. He was 87 years old.
MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, Feb. 21st at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ogilvie. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
Edward Charles Eckardt, of Ogilvie, Minnesota died on February 17, 2009. He was 87 years old.
Ed was born on October 6, 1921 in a log cabin in Clear River, Minnesota to Charles and Clara (Marks) Eckardt. He went to country school, unorganized in Roseau County, for 7 years. In 1936 the family moved from that homestead to Ogilvie, Minnesota. There Ed went to school district 53 of Kanabec County. He worked on the family farm and also worked for Benson Lumber of Ogilvie for approximately 40 years. He married Ora Etter on June 12, 1947 at his family farm at Ann Lake. To this union one daughter, Alice was born. In the fall of 1952 Ed lost his arm in a corn shredder accident.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Charles Jr.
He is survived by his wife Ora of Ogilvie; daughter and son-in-law Alice and Ernest Percy Jr. of Blaine; granddaughters Caitlin, Amanda and Jessica Percy; step- grandson Matt (Jen) Percy; step great-sons Maximillian and Logan Percy; brothers Robert of Ogilvie, Elmer (Max) Eckardt of Pequot Lakes, Alfred (Joyce) of Anoka; sister Evelyn (Wayne) Norrgard of Boyerville, WI; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
