FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 10th at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Braham. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Floyd Robert Ziesmer, of Stanchfield, passed away on January 6 2009 at the Cambridge Medical Center. He was 79 years old.
Floyd was born November 8, 1929 in Saint Paul, Minnesota to Alfred and Martha (Zimpel) Ziesmer. As a family they lived in McGrath and then moved to a farm in Braham.
On June 9, 1956 Floyd married Janice Grell at the St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church of Braham. To this union a son was born in 1957, Robert Lee. For a year and a half they lived in St. Paul before moving to Lindstrom where they lived until they built their current home in Stanchfield in 1971.
Floyd was a carpenter for all his working years. He worked in the twin cities building homes until 1980, and then he worked at a cabinet shop in Mora until his retirement in 1989. Floyd built the home in Lindstrom and also their present home in Stanchfield.
For many years Floyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and camping. One of his fondest memories was a moose hunting trip with his son Bob in 1999. He also enjoyed camping a lot; first in tents, then in campers, and finally in a mini-motor home.
In the winter, snowmobiling was his greatest enjoyment. He made a few trips to west Yellowstone, Nashwauk, and quite a few around home with family and friends. Two great snowmobiling trips were with his brother-in-law Carlie, where they left from home and rode all the way to International Falls, and the second trip riding from home to Grand Forks. Many miles but lots of fun.
Floyd and Janice had 52 wonderful years together and made lots of memories.
Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Homer, Donald, and Kenneth, sister-in-law Gert, and brother-in-law Leo Genz.
His is survived by wife Janice, son Bob (Kim) of Nashwauk, grandchildren Amanda (Chris) Gagne, Jonathan Porter (special friend Josie Gust), brothers Leo of East Detroit, MI; and Clyde (Pat) of Remer; sisters Ethel Genz of McGregor, Lois (Chuck) Brummer of Richfield, and Caryll (Wayne) Parson of Ham Lake, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church of Braham with Rev. Steve Anderson presiding.
