LaVonne M. Oien of Mora, died on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009 at the Villa Health Care Center in Mora. She was 78 years old.
FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at 2:00 pm. on Tuesday, January 6, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora with Rev. Dean Oelfke officiating. VISITATION will be held on Monday from 6-8 pm. at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora and 1 hr. prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. INTERMENT will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
LaVonne Mae Oien, of Mora, MN, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2009 at the Villa Health Care Center surrounded by her family. She was 78 years old.
LaVonne was born December 28, 1930 in Litchville, ND to Merwin and Rigmor (Andersen) McGregor. At the age of 2 they moved to the Mora area. She attended country schools and later attended Mora High School. She was united in marriage to David Oien on December 30, 1950 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora. They resided in Mora where they raised their four children.
LaVonne was employed by Amoco Plastics Factory for ten years and then worked in the office at Mattson Electric for her husband until their retirement in 1991. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, spending time at their cabin on Lake Mille Lacs, but most of all spending time with her family. LaVonne was a long-time member of Calvary Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary of Mora.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jon; parents, and two brothers.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, David Oien of Mora; daughter Diane (Leon) Lofgren of Isanti; son Steve (Donna) Oien of Cambridge; and daughter Nancy (Mark) Antonson of Mora; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Lorelle (Glenn) Jones of Paynesville, MN and brother Kenton (Marilyn) McGregor of Grand Forks, ND; aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 6th, 2009 at Calvary Lutheran Church with Pastor Dean Oelfke officiating. Music was provided by Deb Menze and Mike Nelson. Pallbearers were Jake Lofgren, Jeffrey Oien, Paul Oien, Jamie Antonson, Jon Ponting, and Jordan Ponting. Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
