FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, Dec. 27th at Rock-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Braham. VISITATION will be from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Friday evening, Dec. 26th, plus one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Craig Jon Mattson, of Braham, Minnesota, passed away on December 23, 2008 at his home of 35 years. He was 60 years old.
Craig was born on January 13, 1948 in Saint Paul, Minnesota to Charles J. and Mavis (Anderson) Mattson. He lived in Saint Paul until the age of 5 when following the losses of his parents he came to live with his grandparents on the family farm outside of Braham. He attended Braham schools, where he excelled on the basketball court and graduated in 1966. He attended Saint Cloud State University for one year and joined the Army Reserves in 1967. In 1969 Craig married Lois VanAlstine, and moved to Wadena where he received his Electrical Lineworker degree from Wadena Technical College in 1970. Upon completion of school they returned to Braham and their two children were born. Craig worked as a lineman for Anoka Electric, from 1970 until he retired in 1995. On March 9th of 1985 he was united in marriage to Lana Southerland, to this union Craig’s third child was born.
Craig was a lifetime horseman; he enjoyed raising, training, showing and trail riding his quarter horses from a very young age and throughout his life. He was a youth hockey coach for many years and enjoyed being involved in his children’s sporting activities. Craig loved the outdoors; he enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent a lot of time camping with the horses on trail rides. His jovial and accepting ways will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Lana. Craig is survived by his children Charles (Heidi) Mattson, Jami (Jason) Wilking, and Crystal Mattson all of Isanti; his grandchildren Reiley & Cyrus Mattson, Clay and Reese Wilking, five aunts, cousins and many friends.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham with Pastor Rich Chronis presiding. Music was provided by Ruth Grundyson and Kitty Haley. Honorary Urn Bearers were Bruce Person, Clay Jerald Wilking, John Telstad, and Cyrus Justin Mattson. Arrangements were by the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home. www.aifuneralhome.com
