Doris Hilman-Lillian Peltier, passed away on November 6, 2008. She was 72 years old.
Doris was born on July 8, 1936 in Wolf Lake, Minnesota to Eli and Lydia (Koskela) Makinen.
She was married to Francis Peltier On May 17, 1958 and lived in St. Paul for 37 years.
Doris and Francis had three children Laura, Brenda, and Daniel. Her greatest love was her five grandchildren Matthew, Melissa, Robert, Kyle and Jonathan. Each child felt special to her as she taught them their ABC’s and beginning reading.
Doris made the holidays very memorable. She would cook wonderful meals, bake their favorite cookies, and wrap special gifts picked out with love by granny.
She was as excited as the grandchildren about present opening, and couldn’t wait for the dishes to be done, so Santa could come.
After Francis retired in 1995, they moved to Knife Lake, outside of Mora, Minnesota. Doris loved to cook and loved to have everyone at the lake to eat. She cooked better on accident than most of us cook on purpose. She enjoyed fishing off the dock and having the grandkids up for an afternoon of fun and swimming. She loved spring, when she could plant the garden and her variety of flowers each year.
She had an extensive perennial garden that she took pride in. Her hobbies also included crocheting, reading, embroidering, and watching nature off the deck.
She will be dearly missed.
Doris is survived by her husband Francis, children Laura (Thomas) Hamer of Linwood, Brenda Morency of Hugo, and Daniel Peltier of Mora; grandchildren Matthew, Melissa, Robert, Kyle, and Johnathan, sisters Inga Westerberg of Brooklyn Center and Hazel Johnson of Egan, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
