j-baclund.jpgJack Backlund, Jr. of Mora, died on October 15, 2008 at his home. He was 50 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICES will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 20th at Grace Lutheran Church in Mora. VISITATION will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Sunday, October 19th at the funeral home, plus one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. INTERMENT at Knife Lake Cemetery. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.

Jack Roland Backlund, Jr. of Arthur Township in Mora, Minnesota passed away on Wednesday, October 15th, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 50 years old.

Jack was born on November 11th, 1957 at Miller Hospital in St. Paul, MN to Jack Sr. and Jane (Berulson) Backlund. He graduated in 1983 from St. Croix High School in St. Paul.

On November 25th, 1983 he married Carol Reynolds. They had three children; Jacob, Julia and Sarah. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and love spending time with his family. His favorite pass time was visiting with his nieces and nephews. He worked at Bluewater Yachts in Mora for 20 plus years.

Jack was preceded in death by his father Jack Sr.; his grandparents Melvin & Alice Berulson and uncle Roger Backlund.

He is survived by his wife Carol of 25 years; son Jacob of Mora; daughters Julia of Mora, and Sarah (Ralph) Ngonyo of Plymouth, MN; mother Jane Backlund of Woodbury; brothers Eugene (Tammie) of Johnson City, TN, Curtis (Rachel) of Ft. Atkinson, WI, and Jerome (Jeanie) of Woodbury, MN; mother and father-in-law Mable and Richard Reynolds of Mora; plus many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services on Monday, October 20th at Grace Lutheran Church. Rev. Doug Larson officiating. Organist is Betty Smith. Pallbearers are Sam Strom, Matthew Cox, Greg Peterson, Carl Buchanan, Dennis Burmeister and David Backlund. Honorary pallbearers are Edward Peterson, Arlen Krinkle and Gary Berulson. Interment at Knife Lake Cemetery in rural Mora.

    Wow! It’s almost impossible to find the right words to say at a time like this. My heart pours out to you guys! I knew he was struggling but time goes by too fast and then it’s too late to say goodbye! So, to JackYou will be missed by so many and there won’t be a day that goes by that SOMEONE’S not thinking of you. To Carol, Julia, Sarah, and Jakeyou’ll hear this a million times, but the best advice anyone can give is to always cherish the happy times and the good memories. We love you all!

    I’m so sorry for your loss. Jack will be greatly missed by everyone he touched in his life. He is smiling down at us now as we mourn his loss free of pain and cancer. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

    Gene and Family,

    We are so sorry to hear of the loss of your brother. He is in heaven dancing, singing and enjoying the new body god has given him. I know the days that ahead will be hard for you. Just know you can relay on our heavenly father as well as your family and friends here in Johnson City. WE love you Gene and will continue to keep you close in our thoughts and prayers.
