Maynard Johnson, of Mora, MN, died on September 12, 2008 at his home. He was 79 years old.
FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at the Akkerman – Ingebrand Funeral Home with Rev. Bob DeYoung presiding. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service. INTERMENT will be in the Fish Lake Cemetery of Mora.
Maynard Jack Johnson passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on September 12, 2008. He was 79 years old.
Maynard was born May 14, 1929 in Ledyard Township, Iowa to Andrew and Deane (Gerdes) Johnson. He was raised on the family farm. He joined the army in 1947 and served during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, he returned to farming in Buffalo Center Iowa. He moved to the Mora area in 1960 where he farmed for several years before becoming a truck driver. He was a truck driver until he retired in 1990.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, infant son Thomas, son Jay daughter Roxie, and infant grandson.
He is survived by son Jack of Mora, MN; daughters Marge (Steve Bassett) of Little Fork, MN; Melody (Jim) Holloway of Urbandale, IA; Deanna (Dan) Rothbauer of Cottage Grove, MN; Teresa Nolte-Pinkert of Watertown, SD; grandchildren Jamie Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, Shelia Volk, Sarah Plummer, Ashley Holloway, Brandon Holloway, Jackson Johnson, Danny Rothbauer, Stephen Nolte, Patrick Nolte, Heather Nolte; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services held on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at the Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora. Rev. Bob DeYoung officiated. Pallbearers are Jack Johnson, Jaime Johnson, Steve Bassett, Jim Halloway, Brandon Halloway, Dan Rothbauer. Honorary pallbearers were Dean Smith and Steve Polkinghorne. Interment will be at the Fish Lake Cemetery immediately following the service.
