Esther Olson, of Stanchfield, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at GracePointe Crossing Care Center in Cambridge. She was 100 years old.
FUNERAL SERVICE 11:00 am Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at the Stanchfield Bapist Church with Rev. Dale Cope presiding. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service at church. INTERMENT will be in the Dale Cemetery.
Esther Victoria (Swedberg) Olson, of Stanchfield, passed away on September 6, 2008 at the Grace Pointe Crossing Care Center in Cambridge. She was 100 years old.
Esther was born January 24, 1908 to parents Andrew and Signie (Person) Swedberg in Dale Township, Minnesota. She was one of three children and attended the Dale Country School. In her teens and early 20’s she worked as a housekeeper on Summit Avenue in Saint Paul. In 1937 Esther married Eric Arnold Olson. Together they moved to Waynett and then the Grandy area where they settled and raised four children.
In her early years Esther loved horses and was an accomplished rider. Esther had many hobbies including tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, and reading.
In 1921, at the age of thirteen, Esther was saved by Rev. Moberg at a revival meeting in Cambridge. She was later baptized in 1926. Esther joined the Stanchfield Baptist Church on May 4, 1947 and was an active member for over sixty years. She was a dedicated member of the churches ladies aid group for many of those years. Esther will be deeply missed by her loving friends and family.
Esther is preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Signie Swedberg, husband Eric Arnold Olson, infant son Robert Olson, son Rudy Olson, brother Vernal Swedberg, and sister Ruth Lundeen.
She is survived by her sons Richard Olson of Stanchfield; Bill Olson of Cambridge; Herbert (Judy) Olson of North Branch; sister-in-law Aurora Denis of Cambridge; Thirteen grandchildren; Twenty great grandchildren; and Four great great grandchildren.
A Funeral Serivce was held on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at the Stanchfield Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Cope presiding. Music was provided by Jerry Mart and Claudia Hardy. Casketbearers were Jonathan Olson, Shannon Olson, Elliot Olson, Kenny Olson, Roland Olson, and Jimmy Olson. Interment was in the Dale Cemetery.
