Helen Johnson, of Isanti, formerly of Braham, died on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at the Cambridge Health Care Center. She was 83 years old.
A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 8, 2008 at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Anderson officiating. VISITATION will be from 5-7 pm on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at the Rock- Ingebrand Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. INTERMENT will be in the Grass Lake Mission Cemetery of Braham.
Helen Evelyn Johnson of Isanti, formerly of Braham, died on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at the Cambridge Health Care Center. She was 83 years old.
Helen was born on March 28, 1925 in Wadena County, Minnesota to parents Albert and Louise (Jensen) Marshall. Helen was the only girl of eight children. Helen attended and graduated from the Sebeka High School and continued on to get her Medical Records Certification.
On April 9, 1944 Helen married Robert “Bud” Johnson. In 1945 Helen and Bud moved to the farm north of Braham where they raised their three children.
In 1999 they moved into Braham, until Robert’s death in 2001. Helen then moved to the Elmhurst Commons and finally to Isanti for the last three years.
Helen worked as the head of medical records for the Braham Hospital, and then the Kanabec County Hospital and the five county area.
Helen was an active member of the St. Stephen’s Lutheran church and worked in the Ladies Aid groups, was a Sunday school teacher, and involved in many other church activities.
Helen was also involved in the creation of the Tusen Tack Thrift Store in Braham.
Helen’s hobbies included many needlework crafts including cross stitch and embroidery. She loved to read and do crossword puzzles.
Helen is survived by her daughters Barb (Dick) Danger of Ham Lake; and Laurie (Jerry) Wyandt of Andover; daughter-in-law Angie Johnson of Rochester; Eight grandchildren; and Twelve great grandchildren; brothers George Marshall of Lino Lakes; and Richard (Marsha) Marshall of Savage; sisters-in-law Regine Marshall of St. Paul, Sally Marshall of Reno NV, and Lydia Johnson of Grasston. Helen is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Louise Marshall, husband Robert “Bud” Johnson, son Roland Johnson, grandson Steven Johnson, five brothers, and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 8, 2008 at the St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church of Braham with Pastor Steve Anderson presiding. Music was provided by Carol Schamkel and Marie Grundberg. Casket bearers were Shawn Wyandt, Shane Wyandt, Arnold “Butch” Haren, John Harshberg, Sherrie Evenson, and Linda Rohlf.
Honorary Casket bearers were Scott Johnson, Sadie Johnson, Alexis Ponto, Samatha Johnson, Stacie Danger-Weston, and Stephanie Danger. Interment was in the Grass Lake Mission Cemetery of Grass Lake Township.
