Helen Erickson, of Mora, Minnesota, died on Wednesday, May 14, 2008. She was 74 years old.
MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 23rd at Akkerman-Ingebrand Chapel in Mora. There will be NO VISITATION.
Helen Ann Rachel Erickson, of Mora, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at her home. She was 74 years old.
Helen was born on January 21, 1934 in Bock, Minnesota to Roy and Myrtle (Wood) Kelley. She attended Milaca High School and graduated in 1952. After graduation she attended cosmetology school in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Helen met Ernest Erickson in high school and they were married on April 17, 1953 in Milaca, Minnesota. They had four children. She owned her own beauty shop business in St. Paul for several years. She later worked at the Pink Lady in Maplewood where they lived for over 20 years. Helen, Ernie and their children built their own home in Mora. In 1988 they moved in and Helen opened her beauty shop “Helen’s Country Classics” in her new home. She also belonged to the Knife Lake Sportmen’s Club, and for a short time the Purple Hats Club. While a member of the cosmetology board and a business owner she was invited by People to People Citizen Ambassador Program, along with many other business owners, to make a trip to Russia to share her knowledge with them.
Helen enjoyed traveling, reading and making her own cards. She was always ready and willing to help family and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers Alfred and James Kelley.
Helen is survived by her husband Ernest of Mora; four children Lisa Paquin of Idaho, Gordon Erickson of Mora, Scott (Rena) Erickson of White Bear Lake, Joseph (Tammy) Erickson of Sandstone; six grandchildren Michael, Maria, Heidi, Angel, Nicholas and Stephanie; and two great-grandchildren Clint and Pete.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 23rd, 11:00 A.M. at Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora. Rev. Judy Petrouski will officiate. Final disposition by cremation.
