l-sparks.jpgLucille Sparks, of Mora, MN, died on Monday, April 14, 2008 at Kanabec Hospital. She was 85 years old.

MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 17th at Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. INURNMENT will be at a later date.

Lucille Joyce Sparks, of Mora, Minnesota, passed away on April 14, 2008. She lived for 85 years, 5 months and 14 days.

Lucille was born in Camby, Minnesota on November 23, 1922 to Vernon and Daisy (Davis) Mills. She grew up on a farm, the eldest of 7 children. She attended school until approximately eighth grade when she was needed to help contribute to the family income. On May 22, 1941 she married James David Mills. Lucille gave birth to six children. She was avid in her religion, placing God in all things of life. Cooking was her greatest pleasure, famously known for her caramel rolls and fresh baked bread. Throughout her life she was a farmer and restaurant owner. Her final profession was as a daycare provider for many of the local children. To this day those children still have fond memories and love for her. Above all she was a loving and kind wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Les Mills, Earl Mills and Ralph Mills; her sister Jean Gamble; her daughter Hazel and son James.

Lucille is survived by her four daughters Janet, Barbara, Joy and Lynn; her brother Gilbert and sister Mildred; her eleven grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one soon-to-arrive great great-granddaughter; plus multiple nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial service held on Thursday, April 17th at Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora. Rev. Dean Oelfke officiated. Music was provided by Rich Blesi and Betty Smith. Interment will be at a later date at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Austin, Minnesota.
