MADELINE E. O’BRYON

madeline-obryon_3.jpgMadeline E. O’Bryon of Cambridge, formerly of Grasston, died April 6, 2008 at the Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge. She was 98 years old.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, TUESDAY, April 15th at Hope Lutheran Church of Grasston, MN; Rev. Herman Bakker will officate. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be held at Rice Lake Cemetery in Braham.

Madeline Elvina O’Bryon, age 98 of Grasston, MN passed away on April 6, 2008 at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge.

Madeline was born December 13, 1909 on the parent farm in Grass Lake Township in Kanabec County, MN to Andrew and Mathilda (Erickson) Lundstrom. She was born the sixth child in the family of eight. She was baptized as an infant, attended school at the rural Seward #7 in Grass Lake and attended the Rice Lake Swedish Church during her youth. Madeline was confirmed at the Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1924.

On May 5, 1934 Madeline was united in marriage to Von O’Bryon and made her home with him on the farm west of Grasston in Grass Lake Township. To this union, one daughter and two sons were born.

She was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church, active in Ladies Aid and the Missionary Society. She was an adult 4-H leader in Kanabec County and a member of the Farm Bureau. One of her hobbies was making tied wool quilts; as they raised sheep on the farm.

They moved from the farm to Grasston in 1969. Von passed away in 1989. In the fall of 1994, Madeline moved to the Bridgeport Apartments in Cambridge. In March of 1998, she was admitted to the Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge.

In addition to her parents, Madeline was preceded in death by her husband, Von; brothers, Roy & Linden; infant brothers, Milton & Arthur; sisters, Eleanor Krumholz, Agnes Hegle and Della Carlson.

Madeline is survived by daughter, Fay (Don) Peterson of Apple Valley, MN; sons, Gene O’Bryon of Cincinnati, OH and Jim (Jan*) O’Bryon of Hartford, WI; grandchildren, Mike O’Bryon and Wade (Cheryl) O’Bryon of Cornucopia, WI, Sherri (Randy) Sanger of Menomonee Falls, WI, Dan (Irma) O’Bryon of Hartford, WI, Brian Peterson of Eagan, MN, and Steve Peterson of Apple Valley; great-grandchildren, Austin & Brandon Sanger, Andrea & Alec O’Bryon; and nieces, nephews and other relatives. *Jan O’Bryon died April 9, 2008.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the LCW of Hope Lutheran Church.
