FUNERAL SERVICES will be 11:00 AM on Friday, March 28 at Mora United Methodist Church. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.


Wilma Ovick of Mora, MN passed away on March 22, 2008, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids, MN. Wilma was 89 years old.
Wilma was born on June 28, 1918 in Western, Nebraska to Charles and Lillian Harris. She grew up on the family farm and attended Doane College in Crete, Nebraska.
She met Claude Wheeler while attending High School, and they were married and had two children, Sharroll and Charles. Claude and Wilma lived in Fairbury, Nebraska during the early part of their marriage. Wilma worked for the J.C. Penney Company. They later moved to Valley, Nebraska, where Claude took a position with People’s National Gas Company. While in this new position, Claude and Wilma lived in Valley and Waterloo, Nebraska before being transferred to Mora, MN in 1959. Wilma worked part time at Nelson’s Variety Store, and was involved in activities at Mora United Methodist Church, Mora PTA, the Mora American Legion Auxiliary, and Mora Women’s Club.
Claude passed away in 1980, and Wilma met and married Morris Ovick in 1986. Morris and Wilma traveled extensively and wintered in Apache Junction, Arizona, and enjoyed their time together until Morris’ death in 1997.
Wilma liked to cook, garden, fish, and enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Mille Lacs Lake, and taking trips to the casinos. She especially loved the time she had with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, two half sisters, Elsie Ziemann and Florence Drake, and two half brothers, Clifford Muir and Rolland Muir, and husbands, Claude Wheeler and Morris Ovick. She is survived by daughter, Sharroll Vrba of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and son, Charles Wheeler and his wife, Janet of St. Cloud, MN, grandchildren, Curtis Vrba, Lori Vrba Buhr, Gregg Vrba, Christopher Wheeler, Scott Wheeler, and Kelly Wheeler Ojeda, 10 great- grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Wilma’s grandchildren: Kelly Wheeler Ojeda, Scott Wheeler, Christopher Wheeler, Gregg Vrba, Lori Vrba Buhr, and Curtis Vrba.
