Daniel Thielen, of Mora, MN, died on Tuesday, March 18th as a result of an automobile accident. He was 41 years old.
FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 22nd at Grace Lutheran Church in Mora. VISITATION will be on Friday, March 21st from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church; and also 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
Daniel Scott Thielen was born on October 26, 1966 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Daniel lived in St. Paul, Hinckley and moved to Mora in 1975. He attended Mora schools and graduated from Mora High School in 1985. He then attended Itasca Community College in Grand Rapids, Minnesota from 1985-87. Dan loved sports from an early age and played baseball, hockey and football in high school and baseball and football in college. After college, Dan returned to Mora and was united in marriage to Tracy McGrew on May 18, 1991 at Grace Lutheran Church. To this union four children were born. Dan and Tracy lived and raised their family in Mora. Dan was employed by EPC in Mora, Team Vantage in Forest Lake, PlasTech in Princeton and then worked for Al Smith and Mike Smith Construction of Mora.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing and the out-of-doors, as well as watching and supporting all Minnesota’s pro sports teams.
Dan was always willing to help family and friends. He loved attending and watching sports events that his children participated in. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Dan is survived by his wife Tracy; children Paige, Tanner, Hailey and Trevor all of Mora; mother and step-father Juanita and Heinz Ledowski of Mora; sister Deby (Don) Volk of Sandstone; brothers John (Renee) Hall of Kansas, Jim Thielen of Mora, Terry (Michelle) Thielen of Andover and David Thielen of Mora; in-laws Marshall and Jeanne McGrew of Mora, Judy and Joe Gries of Crosby; sister and brothers-in-law Julie and Dan Krone, Jordan and Shawn McGrew all of Mora; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; other relatives and numerous friends.
Funeral services held on Saturday, March 22 at Grace Lutheran Church. Rev. Doug Larson will officiate. Music provided by Lonnice Puetz and Jacki Peterson. Pallbearers Dan Krone, Mike Smith, Tony Hall, Wayne Hall, Paul Rassier and Myron Lemke. Honorary pallbearers John Hall, Jim Thielen, TerryThielen, David Thielen and Shane Gries.
