Dilman Francis Allen, of Mora, Minnesota, died on March 8, 2008 at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge. He was 85 years old.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Church in Boy River, Minnesota. Deaconess Dianna Schumacher will officiate. Inurnment will be at Zion Lutheran Island Cemetery in Boy River.
Dilman F. Allen was born on January 23, 1923 in Iowa to John H. and Elsie (Butler) Allen. After school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. Upon completing his tour of duty in the South Pacific he worked in the sheet metal industry until retirement. He then began working for the U.S. Forest Service in Deer River, Minnesota.
On February 26, 1942 he married Janet M. Daggett. Dilman and Janet had three children; Jacquline, Julie and Daniel.
Dilman enjoyed golf, hunting, wood working and spending time with his family.
He was a wonderful husband, father, brother and grandfather. The family wishes to thank the Grandview Christian Home for their compassion, caring and friendship during these last months. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Janet; daughter Jackie and son Danie.
He is survived by his brother Elgin H. Allen (Gertrude) of Iowa; daughter Julie J. Seth (Steve) of Mora, MN; 6 grandchildren Jeff Seth of Monticello, MN, David Seth (Kate) of Monticello, MN, Jason Meyer (Linda) of Green Bay WI, Andi Carver (Tony) of Becker MN; Jennifer Jacobs (Bob) of De Forest WI, Josh Curtis (Jen) of Big Lake MN, Sara Heller (Jake) of Sandstone MN; and 17 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends.
