Leslie Mattson, age 73, of Braham, died Tuesday March 4, 2008 at United Hospitals in St. Paul.
MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 11:00 am at Rock-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Braham with Rev. Richard Chronis officiating.
Leslie Melvin Mattson, age 73, of Braham, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2008. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer in December of 2007, underwent a surgical procedure in February 2008 and died of surgical complications.
Les was born on September 22, 1934 in Grass Lake Township on the family farm to Amie Alvera Falk and Matt August Mattson. He was the 10th of 11 children. Leslie attended Seward School in Braham where he met his future bride, Ann Stern. They were later married on January 16, 1955 at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Braham.
Living on the farm, they raised two children, Gene and Gail as well as helped rear two of their grandchildren, Christopher and Wesley Erbstoesser.
While farming, Les also worked for several masonry companies before starting up his own masonry business. He left his “mark” on many homes, schools and hospitals within a 250-mile radius of Braham. Les took great pride in his brick work.
Leslie was a charter member of the Braham Moose Lodge #1544. His interests included: supporting the Moose Lodge, hunting, fishing and watching the Minnesota Twins play baseball.
He is survived by his son, Gene (Wendy) Mattson; daughter, Gail (Jim) Dawson; grandchildren, Dustin E. Mattson, Sommer and Forrest Osborn-Mattson, Christopher Erbstoesser, Wesley (Teresa) Erbstoesser; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Ronnie (Audrey) Mattson; sister, Jane (Gerald) Backlund; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service was held Friday, April 11th, 2008 at the Rock-Ingebrand Funeral Chapel in Braham. Rev. Rich Chronis officiated the service.
