Thomas J. Warner, age 68, of Mora, MN died at his home in Mora on Friday, February 22, 2008.
FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at the Akkerman-Ingebrand Chapel in Mora. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service. INTERMENT will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora, MN.
Thomas Jerome Warner was born on December 03, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois. During his younger years he grew up in Chicago and Albert Lea, Minnesota. He attended Albert Lee High School. He was the second of three children to his parents Thomas A. Warner and Irene M. Sayles. After high school, he served in the United States Air Force as a weatherman during the 50’s. At that time he married Sharalyn Mae Arbuckle. To this union six children were born. They moved from Illinois to Mora, Minnesota in 1972. After 17 years of marriage Sharalyn and Thomas parted ways. Soon after Thomas’ seventh child was born. He then went on to further his education by attending Saint Cloud State University. He received honors and a full scholarship to Oxford University; but declined that opportunity in exchange for the love of his second wife Laura Lee True Warner. From this marriage four additional step children were added to the family. Thomas then went to work for the State of Minnesota as an employment counselor.
Thomas and Laura’s greatest passion was to travel and they enjoyed visiting many sights in the United States. Thomas enjoyed cars and had many in his life time. He also enjoyed target shooting, and playing and listening to music. He was a member of the NRA and the American Legion. He enjoyed bowling with his wife Laura and going to bingo where they met many new and old friends.
Thomas, although baptized as a child in the Lutheran church; later transitioned to be baptized and confirmed as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Then on March 13, 1988 he was ordained to the office of Priest, and on November 04, 2004 was ordained to The Office of Elder.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; and wife Laura.
Thomas Warner is survived by his children Justice and Daniel of Mora, Tom and wife Claudette of McGrath, David of River Falls, WI, Faithe and husband Mike Dimitrovski of Bridgeview, IL, Tim and wife Grace of Poplar Creek, IL, Becky and husband Ken Papenfuhs of Pine City, John Nelson and friend Jill MacMillian of San Diego, CA, Laurie and husband Roger Lindquist of Dodge Center, MN, Leslieann and husband Mark Elfman of Devils Lake, ND and Donna of Iowa Falls, Iowa; plus many many grand children and great grand children; sister Beverly Palmer and brother Gerald Warner. He was a gracious man and his love, his caring and his wisdom will be truly missed.
Funeral services Tuesday, February 26 at Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora. Tom Miche II officiant. Pallbearers Tom Warner II, Justice Warner, David Warner, Daniel Warner, Tim Warner and John Nelson. Military honors by Mora American Legion Lee Goldsmith Post 201. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
