Florence Swanson died on Tuesday, February 12th, at Kanabec Hospital in Mora. She was 87 years old.
FUNERAL SERVICES will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 16th at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mora. VISITATION will be from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Friday, February 15th at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora. INTERMENT will be Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
Florence Vivian Swanson was born March 14, 1920 in Quamba, Minnesota to Erick and Martha (Lidstrom) Edlund. She attended grade school in Quamba, Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis, and graduated from Mora High School. She married Walter Swanson, of Mora, on September 7, 1940 in Quamba, MN. They lived in Mora for most of their lives, except for the short time they spent in Greendale, WI and Spring Lake Park, MN. Together Florence and Walter had three daughters. They were married 57 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter in 1997, two brothers Brody Edlund, and Dallas Edlund, three sisters Anna Peterson, Charlotte Mitchell, and Ellen Westlund.
Florence is survived by her daughters Nancy and husband Tom Weber of Roseville, MN; Deanna and husband Dennis Regan of Plymouth, MN; Linda and husband Daryl Erickson of Brunswick; sister Grace Larson of Coon Rapids, MN; grandchildren Rebecca (Jeff) Dillner, Brian (Cari) Weber, Craig (Cindy) Regan, Jeffrey Regan, Heather Regan, Amy (John) Thomas, Holly (Patrick) Maddox, Kelly Erickson, Ryan Erickson, Ross (Tracy) Erickson, Corey (Maria) Erickson; Fourteen great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Florence was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She said her most important profession was parenting, and she loved her family dearly. She enjoyed having her grandchildren over and they shared many great times. She liked to grow a garden and harvest the fruits and veggies each year. She spent many hours making delicious canned items from green beans to apple sauce.
Florence was a long time member of the Emmanuel Baptist church. She was active in the choir and the women’s group for much of her early years. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services held Saturday, February 16th, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mora with Rev. Jerry Tarman officiating. Music provided by Randy Reynolds, Jerry Tarman and Ruth Reed. Casketbearers Brian Weber, Craig Regan, Jeffrey Regan, Kelly Erickson, Ryan Erickson, Ross Erickson, Corey Erickson, and Patrick Maddox. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
