Lowell Neitzel, age 83, of Mora, MN passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2007.
MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 12th at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brunswick. VISITATION will be on Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 5-8 PM at Akkerman-Ingebrand Chapel. Memorials preferred to Kanabec Hosptial Auxiliary or Kanabec County Hospice.
Lowell was born June 7, 1924 in Eagle Point Township in Eagleton, Wisconsin to August and Emma (Blank) Neitzel. He lived on the family farm until enlisting with the U.S. Army. He served his country in the South Pacific during WWII. After returning from conflict Lowell went to work for Tony Fanetti Trucking Company in Bloomer, Wisconsin.
Lowell married Shirley Ann Palmer of Bloomer, Wisconsin on March 18, 1950. Together they were the proud parents of 7 children.
Lowell and Shirley lived in Bloomer until 1956 when they moved to the Mora area. Upon arriving in Mora, Lowell established Mora Livestock Market. After Lowell sold the livestock business he spent several years working in the construction industry in the Twin Cities area. He spent his remaining working years self-employed in the scrap iron business and as the self proclaimed “Mayor of Brunswick”.
Lowell enjoyed carpentry work, going to auctions, taking scenic drives with Shirley and going up town for coffee with friends. Lowell also enjoyed traveling and visiting with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Clayton and William; and daughter Lisa Ruth.
Lowell is survived by his wife of 58 years Shirley; children Mark (Ruth) of Seattle, WA, Virginia “Ginny” Turner of Mora, Marcia (Roger) Kringen of Colville, WA, Steven (Karen) of Covington, WA, Kurt (Barb) of Northfield, MN, and Sara Joy Nietzel of Mora; grandchildren Angela, Heather, Jake, Michael, Spencer, Thomas, Nicholas, Joseph, Robert, Stephanie, Shannon and Shawn; great-grandchildren Dawson, Logan, Kelly, Megan, Dominique, Natalia, Ryan, Ricky and Avery; brother Eugene (Glenda) of Cedar Hill, TX; sisters Doris Buie of Webster, WI, Leone (Vern) Prigge of Milwaukee, WI, Irma Hurt of Eagleton, WI, Pat (Frank) Howard of Mundelein, IL; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
