ALICE NORMAN

Alice Norman died on Friday, September 21, 2007 at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge. She was 91 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at New Hope Christian Reformed Church in Ogilvie. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday morning (10:00-11:00 A.M.) at the church. INTERMENT will be at Graceland Cemetery in Ogilvie.

Alice was born on December 28, 1915 in Marion, North Dakota. She was the oldest daughter of Annie (TeBrink) and Garret Vink’s nine children

Alice married Harry Norman on December 28th, 1939 on her parents farm near Hull, Iowa. She helped her husband farm near Dampster, South Dakota. They were blessed with three daughters and a son. In the spring of 1956 Alice and Harry moved to a small farm by Cloquet, Minnesota. Then in 1959 they moved to a farm north of Ogilvie, Minnesota and became members of this congregation. While living near Ogilvie all of their children were married and eventually added nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren to the family. In the year 1989 they moved to Mora and lived there until 2006 when they became residents of the Grandview Christian Ministries Home of Cambridge, Minnesota.

Alice worked at Fingerhut, Ogilvie Creamery and Sunshine Villa. She had many hobbies; cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading and music. She always had a garden and enjoyed sharing the harvest with her family and friends. She loved having company and having a cup of coffee to share. Grandchildren enjoyed spending some time on the farm with their grandparents.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Harry; parents Annie and Garret Vink; brothers Albert Vink, George Vink and Delmar Vink; sister Nettie VanLeeuwen; nephews Gary Vink, Harold Vink; two nieces Geneva VanPeursem and Brenda Reuvers; and grandson Donald DeJong.

She is survived by four children; son Harlan Norman and wife JoAnn of Brainerd; daughters Linda Schreiner and husband Robert of New Hope, Harriet DeJong and husband John of Mora, and Ruth DeJong and her husband Richard of Blaine; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother Henry Vink of Colton, South Dakota; three sisters Marian Verburg and husband Richard of Rock Valley, Iowa, Bernice Reuvers and husband John of Marshall, Minnesota and Anna Scholten and husband Bernard of Grand Rapids, Michigan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
