FUNERAL SERVICE will be 10 AM FRIDAY, September 14, 2007 at the Rock – Ingebrand Funeral Home in Braham. VISITATION Thursday, September 13 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Rock – Ingebrand Funeral home and 1 hour prior to the service.


Walter Hugh Cripps was born to Harold and Mwynwen (Williams) Cripps on April 23, 1926 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He graduated from Fort Dodge High School and was drafted into the army. He served on Saipan for 2 years and reenlisted to spend 2 additional years in Germany during the blockade.
On returning home, he attended college at Storm Lake, Iowa and San Jose State in California. He returned to Iowa to attend Drake University. His lifelong interest for learning led him to study history and astronomy. Walter worked 8 years for Firestone rubber company, this venture began his career as a salesman.
Walter was a quiet, gentle and dignified man. On October 2, 1987 he married Alice Bade of Palisade, MN. Walter and Alice enjoyed life on Lake Waukenabo. Walter was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 1997. As his health failed, they moved closer to Alice’s family in Braham, where they have resided the past 2 years.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Faber; sister, Carol; and 1 grandchild.
He leaves to mourn, his wife Alice; sons, Walter (Patricia) Cripps, Jr. of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, and Morgan (Kwi) of El Paso, TX; daughters, Renee (Les) Ballard of Red Oak, IA, and LeeAnn Johnson of Cochoran, GA; sisters-in-law, Mary Faith Cripps of Palm Springs, CA, and Louise Roth of Sisseton, SD; brother-in-law, Mickey Olson of Minneapolis, MN. His step-family who loved him dearly are Karyn (Robert) Prois of Blaine, MN, Patty (Karl) Larson of Deming, NM, Claudia Payne of Richland, WA, Valerie (Mike) Demitroff of Hinckley, MN, Jonelle (Daniel) Klemz of Braham, MN; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by many friends; especially Jack and June Duree of Mesa, AZ.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 14, 2007 at the Rock-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Braham, MN. With Pastor Richard Chronis officiating. Pallbearers are Walter Cripps, Jr., Les Ballard, Steve Roessler, Daniel Klemz, Mike Demitroff, and Robert Prois. Interment will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.
