Wallace E. Brown died on July 7 at his home in Braham. He was 76 years old.
MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church. VISITATION will be Tuesday, July 10 from 6 to 8 pm at the Rock-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Braham and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Wallace Edward Brown, son of Walter and Ella (Olson) Brown, was born March 27, 1931 in Winger MN. He was Baptized and Confirmed at Cross Lake Church. He attended the Lade School. He worked on the family farm until he joined the US Navy at age 18. While serving in the Navy for 4 years, he was stationed on ships outside Japan. After the service, he went home to Fosston, where he met his wife, Janice Moen. They married in Biwabik, MN on June 9, 1956. They had 5 children. Wally worked at many occupations during his working years, including 3 years in Greenland before retiring from Royal Concrete in Stacy, MN.
Wally served as an officer at the Moose Lodge and was active for many years with the VFW and American Legion. Wally’s hobbies include playing cards and dice with his family and cribbage with his sister, Doris. He also played cards Friday afternoons with his friends at the dining site at Park Manor. He also enjoyed gardening, bird watching, watching the many deer that came into the yard and going to the casino. Wally was the type of person who helped anyone who needed it and never held a grudge against anyone.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Donald, Chester and Vernon; sisters, Edith and Karoline; nephews, Brian Arnold and Jay Mattson; niece, Tanya Velishek; grandson, Brett Brown; and brothers-in-law, Bert Hartman and Richard Olson.
He is survived by his wife, Janice of Braham, sons: Steven (Char) of Grasston, Mark (Rhondia) of Amery, WI, Kieth (Nichole) of Braham; daughters: Denice Lilienthal of Braham and Terri (Eric) of Braham; his brother, Floyd Brown (Jeanette) of Bagley; and sister, Doris Hartman of Bagley; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
