Beulah Gwendola Jorgensen passed away on July 6, 2007 at Kanabec Hospital at 90 years, 11 months and 6 days. Beulah was born in Nashville, Indiana on July 31, 1916 to Christen and Mary Christensen. She was the youngest of the family, joining brothers and sisters: Raymond, Nellie, Gracia, Orpha, Roy, and Carl. She was lovingly called Tina by her father and Auntie Boo by her many nieces and nephews. Beulah’s girlhood memories include a white frame house, orchards of fruit trees, split rail fences, horse and buggy transportation, corn cribs by fall and winter that became her summer playhouse and kittens dressed in home made doll clothes.

When Beulah was 10 years old, she and her family moved from Indiana to Hillman Township in Kanabec County. Beulah went to the little blue school house near the Mille Lacs Trail for 2 weeks that spring and then, she continued her education at the newly opened Wilkins School. Beulah began attending Hillman Baptist Church in 1926 – and has maintained a lifelong commitment to the Lord, her church and her church family.

Beulah’s father died when she was only 16 – so Beulah quickly matured and assumed more and more responsibilities at home. In addition, she worked out during the winter season as household help. One winter, she met a young man who was also working out and his courtship began with a valentine. That courtship culminated in marriage that lasted nearly 67 years. Walter and Beulah were married May 15, 1937 and soon bought the farm they owned for 64 years. June, Harold and Betty were born to them while they lived on their farm. Beulah was a farmer’s wife, growing huge gardens, canning fruits and vegetables for her family, taking pride in her laundry, her home, and her family – especially her family.

Beulah and Walter sold the farm in 2002 and moved to Pinecrest Apartments in Mora where she lived independently until her death. Beulah is survived by her 3 children: June (Jerry) Anderman of Arcadia, Florida, Harold (Joyce) Jorgensen of Anoka, Minnesota and Betty (Marvin) Smith of Limerick, Pennsylvania; 4 grandchildren, (Kim, Brad, Dusty and Jenny) and 7 great grandchildren (Alex, Jessica, Stephen, Amber, Jake, Caleb and Ellie), sisters- and brother-in-law, and her many nieces and nephews. Her husband, parents, and siblings preceded her in death.

75 years in Hillman Township, 80 Years in Kanabec County, 90 Years of Living.
