DONALD BOYER

d-boyer.jpgDonald Boyer, of Mora, MN, died on Sunday, May 6, 2007 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Mpls. He was 83 years old.

MEMORIAL SERVICE will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 11th at Akkerman-Ingebrand Chapel in Mora. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.

Donald was born December 17, 1923 in Winnipeg, Canada to William Cyrus and Nancy Jane Boyer. He grew up on a farm, the second of four siblings; and attended country school until the age of 15. Donald joined the Canadian Army and enlisted on March 3, 1943 in Winnipeg, Canada. He was discharged from the service in 1946. He then joined his family in Minnesota.

On October 16, 1948 Donald was married to Dorothy Margaret Bankers in Mora, Minnesota. They raised four children, two sons and two daughters. He was self-employed for six years, then worked for Barton Sand and Gravel for 30 years.

During his retirement he enjoyed attending auctions and buying and restoring tractors. Don also enjoyed having coffee with his buddies at Sportsmen Caf and Grandma’s Kitchen. He was a member of the American Legion from 1948 to 2007.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy; one daughter Linda; parents William and Nancy; two brothers Harold and Herbert; and one sister Gail.

He is survived by two sons Thomas Boyer and wife Bonnie of Mora, and Donald Boyer and wife Donnell of Mounds View; one daughter Mary Drath of Yakima, Washington; and a son-in-law Leslie Runquist of Spring Lake Park; plus 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and other family members.
