Richard Carlson, of Mora, died on Monday, January 21, 2013. He was 62 years old.
FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 24th at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora with Rev. Lori Blake officiating.
VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service (from 10:00-11:00 A.M.) on Thursday at the funeral home.
INTERMENT will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
Richard Phillip Carlson, of Mora, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013 at his daughters’ home in Mora after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 62 years old.
Richard was born on October 27, 1950 in Mora, Minnesota to parents Carl and Daisy (Spar) Carlson. Born the eighth of twelve children, he grew up on the family farm and attended Mora Schools, graduating in 1968. On October 24, 1968 Richard was united in marriage to Brenda Austin in Sisseton, South Dakota. The couple was blessed with five children. Richard began his 30 year career as a Heavy Equipment Operator, working road construction projects for Arcon and several other companies. Due to health complications, Richard was forced to take an early retirement. For the last fifteen years, Richard felt so lucky to share his life with his companion and soulmate, Harriet “Ann” Martini.
Richard enjoyed the outdoors. He looked forward to deer hunting in the fall and fishing in the summer. Richard loved to sneak away to the cabin with his best friend Virg Ericson. He enjoyed getting together with family and friends for barbecues and spending time with his grandchildren doing woodcrafts. Richard always had such an optimistic outlook on life and at all times was ready with a funny remark or teasing comment. He will be dearly missed by those who loved him.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; brother Daniel; and granddaughters Anna and Emma. Richard is survived by his children, Lynea (Doug) Holter of Mora; Cindy Carlson (Mike) of Deerwood; Jeramie (Georgianna) Carlson of Crosby; Mandy (David) Peterson of Merrifield; and Trent (Melissa) Carlson of Ogilvie; soulmate, Harriet “Ann” Martini of Pine City; grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, Brent Jr., Brooke, Cory, Trevor, Colten, Breanna, Bonnie, Brenda, Kennedy, Joshua, and Hannah; great granddaughter Celia; Siblings, Hugo, David, Robert, Peter, Eileen Ankrum, Daisy Bodin, Melaine, Joann, Clint, and Tom; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service was held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home of Mora with Rev. Lori Blake officiating. Casket Bearers were Virg Ericson, Trent Carlson, Cory Boozell, Colten Boozell, Trevor Carlson, and Brittany Holter. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery of Mora. Arrangements were by the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home of Mora.
