Virginia Linkert, of Mora, died on Monday, October 20, 2008 at Kanabec Hospital in Mora. She was 86 years old.
FUNERAL SERVICES 2:00 PM, Friday, Oct. 24th at Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora. VISITATION 1 hour prior to the service at the church. INTERMENT at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
Virginia Ann Linkert, of Mora, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2008 at the Kanabec County Hospital in Mora. She was 86 years old.
Virginia was born on November 6, 1921 to parents Stephen and Violet (Schorr) Kuzaroff in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Virginia was united in marriage to Edward H. Linkert on November 19, 1941 at St. Luke’s Lutheran church in St. Paul. Virginia worked many different jobs during her life. She worked as a cook in St. Luke’s hospital and at the Highland Château in St. Paul. She was an assistant librarian for the Rosemont school district and she painted many beautiful windows on churches and schools.
Together in 1978, they moved to the farm in Mora where they raised chickens and cows.
Virginia spent much of her time helping others through the Salvation Army and the Mora Senior Center. She was a life member of the American Legion and the VFW. Virginia worked as a cook for the Seven County Senior Federation in Mora and she also assisted seniors with their taxes. Virginia was a longtime member of the Calvary Lutheran Church of Mora and active in the Fa Ho Chi Choir. She was a foster parent for fifteen years.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward, grandson Stephen Linkert II, and brother Stephen Kuzaroff
She is survived by her son Stephen (Pam) Linkert of Mora; daughters Jenny (Bob) Morris of Mora; Amelia Linkert of Boise, ID; Margaret (John) Poirier of Cottage Grove; Joan (Dale) Nelson of McVille, ND; Irene (Mark) Sawh of Bloomington; and Claudia (Steve) Oestreich of S. St. Paul; 21 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; special friends Eileen Peterson of McGrath and Mary Morris of WI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service was held on Friday, October 24, 2008 at the Calvary Lutheran Church of Mora with Rev. Dean Oelfke officiating. Music was provided by Deb Menze, Amanda Nelson, and Jessica Foley. Casketbearers were Virginia’s grandsons. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery of Mora.
